With all the exam results bein announced and thanks to the newspapers, which have been coverin all the rank holders and how most of them are puttin in hours of effort in scoring GOOD marks??? Well this discussion can head two ways but here I would like to cover one of the aspects which I feel teaches all of us a very BIG lesson.
I'm sure most of us are born into families, wherein we didn't have much of a problem with respect to education atleast with the schooling part of it. With the results being announced the news papers have been doin an extra ordinary work of identifyin kids who are not even gifted or blessed like us and who have fought through adversities to score good marks. Frankly speakin today when I was readin one of the article, wherein this kid belongin to the poorest of the society, lost his folks and his tribe of people dress as mythical characters and beg on the streets, he was supported by his closest family and he achieved 86% of marks. Definitely itz no mean achievement.
Proud, I did feel for the kid and hopin that he would fly out in flying colors with his future education and sure quite a few philanthropist would approach him to help him out, now that he has been featured in the newspaper. But my question is? why the hell do we take things for granted. I mean, look at it, with all the facilities provided to us, we still make a BIG deal when we just pass our exams, even if it means we just scrape through. Hell, imagine kids like these who give in their heart and soul to education and just want to get out of their poverty and make their lives BETTER.
Well the point I would like to stress here is that, probably debatable, but I feel itz the INDIAN middle class attitude. We are happy with whatever we have, we are never ambitious, we are never tryin to reach out, coz we have our own mess to handle. Wish I could change this entire thing with a wave of a magic wand, but alas we have all learnt to be comfy in our settings and never worry too much. The biggest factor I feel is that, we take everything for GRANTED, and that where the entire issue crops up.
Well wishin Dharmaraj all the best for his higher education and hoping he would becomes an IAS or KAS officer as he dreams of becoming one day. As for us, guess we need to go for a total change over in our ATTITUDE. Fingers crossed on that.

Nice to read about Dharmaraj scoring 86 % against all odds. I sincerely wish he makes it big.
ReplyDeleteHis drive to make his life better will definitely see him through.
Change in atitude - long way to go. As a society, we will take a long time to get there . so, I guess it can only happen by a magic wand , as you put it :). I have also observed that it is not specific to India.
