This is something which I've always argued about and still strongly believe that my presence is more important than carryin presents for any occasion. Time and again I'm tryin convincin my folks and friends about my belief, but alas have had little success, guess itz a very different school of thoughts and it runs parallel and I never see it mergin anywhere in the near future.
I've always believed and continue to believe that my presence is more important than presents, be a weddin, birthday, anniversary or any other occasion that you can think of. But I'm always counter argued sayin how can you go empty handed???? But hell am I not makin my presence felt??? What more would anyone else expect??? Well there is a different school of thought sayin that itz an easy way of chickenin out with respect to buyin some presents, but hey think about it, wherever or whenever the occasion arises, I make it a point to be present irrespective of the distance. Now that takes some effort.
This belief alone had taken me to 22 weddings in Dec 08 and Jan 09 and thatz no mean achievement. I understand few of it I could have avoided but hey, most of us only get married just once in our life time, isn't it a great feelin to be part of that occasion??? Even tonight I'm headed out for a weddin to Calicut and well as always I would be goin there empty handed but still ensure that my presence is made felt and I feel good about it.
And as humans, I see that once you give a present to someone, invariably we expect the same simply coz we gave somethin and then we try measurin the same as to did the person when she/he attended your function/occasion match your present/gifts. Well I suppose thatz exactly what I'm tryin to avoid, coz I know even I would end up expectin and itz not fair simply coz it might lead to disappointment. Knowin that I'm a person who expects out of everyone, I guess it would come naturally to me and if I can avoid it why not???????
Well end of it I would like to sign off sayin hey, if you expectin anythin from me, rest assure you can expect my presence but not presents ;-)..
Bon Weekend :-)
